I build whole products and get them out the door. Over the past year I've been working on a handful of apps, most of them live today, with real payments, live video and AI underneath. Before that, five years building and maintaining production systems end to end, from new products to the internal tools, APIs and tests that kept them running.

    TreatMe

    Post a wish, get it shipped. Share a product link, someone taps Treat, and TreatMe places the order and ships it to you.

    • Anyone can pay for a wish in a couple of taps; payments, refunds and disputes are handled end to end with Stripe.
    • Orders are placed automatically on Amazon, Walmart and Target and shipped to the recipient, with an admin flow to keep fulfilment on track.

    Beach Day Report

    Is it a beach day? YES. MAYBE. or NOPE. for about 5,000 U.S. beaches, and it actually looks at the beach first.

    • Watches 400 live beach cams: grabs a frame from each stream with ffmpeg, then Claude vision reads the crowds, sargassum, big waves and lifeguard flag.
    • A scoring engine blends those camera reads with weather and sea state into one call. A red flag or heavy sargassum caps the day at MAYBE, however sunny it is.
    • Reports come from a stale-while-revalidate Redis cache kept warm by a Lambda, so they open instantly.

About me

I'm Candela, a software engineer in Deerfield Beach, Florida. I work across the whole stack: data models and APIs on the back end, React and React Native on the front, and the details in between that make an app feel finished.

Most of what I've built lately is for everyday life: sending someone a treat, saving on groceries, meeting people without swiping, figuring out if the beach is worth it today.

Before building my own apps I spent four years at Masacre.io and a year and a half at Pentester, working on dashboards, billing systems on AWS and AI tools for health clinics. I studied Computer Engineering at Florida Atlantic University.

Off the clock I foster kittens, bake more sweets than one person should, and spend as much time as I can at the beach in the sun, usually with friends around.

    • DealHawk finds in-store clearance and hidden markdowns at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Home Depot and Costco through a Chrome extension and the DealHawk Pro iOS app.
    • Built Penny Meals on top of its deal data: an Expo app for iOS, Android and web with an Express API, RevenueCat and Stripe subscriptions, recipes and an admin panel.
    • Built admin tooling in React and TypeScript: Typesense-powered user and global product search and a user audit log.

    • Designed and built Chart Auditing software from the ground up with OpenAI and Gemini to automate audits for health clinics.
    • Built and maintained a scalable, secure Django (Python) backend API.
    • Refined the Pentester dashboard UI/UX with clean TypeScript and React.
    • Led development of the Pentester mobile app in React Native, integrating existing services.

  4. Mar 2020 – May 2024

    Coconut Creek, FL

    • Shipped an admin dashboard (React, Node) adopted by the whole customer service team, with +20% operational efficiency.
    • Built reseller billing and payout tools on AWS (DynamoDB, API Gateway, Cognito, Lambda, S3, EventBridge), with a 100% increase in payout tracking accuracy.
    • Built re-engagement tools (mass SMS via Twilio, in-app messaging) that won back 20% of lapsed users.
    • Reached 90% test coverage with React Testing Library and GitHub Actions CI.
