Candela Sarrabayrouse

Software EngineerFull-stack (React / TypeScript / Node / Python) and mobile (React Native / Expo)

I build whole products and get them out the door. Over the past year I've been working on a handful of apps, most of them live today, with real payments, live video and AI underneath. Before that, five years building and maintaining production systems end to end, from new products to the internal tools, APIs and tests that kept them running.

What I've been working on

  • BlinkDate

    01consumer · live video · AI

    BlinkDate

Video speed dating: 7 dates, one night, zero swiping.

    • Live 8-minute video dates on scheduled event nights, built on WebRTC.
    • AI-assisted matchmaking, plus events, schedules and match follow-ups.
    • Expo Router app on an Express + DynamoDB backend.

  • Penny Meals

    Penny Meals

Cut grocery bills, not dinner. Finds the deepest grocery markdowns at the stores near you.

    • Deals from Walmart, Publix, ALDI, the Kroger family and more, with BOGO, coupon and sale filters that flag stackable combos.
    • Subscriptions through RevenueCat on the App Store and Stripe on the web, sharing one entitlement.
    • One Expo codebase for iOS, Android and web on an Express + DynamoDB API.

  • YessBeach

    03mobile + web · live cams · AI vision

    YessBeach

Is it a beach day? YES. MAYBE. or NOPE. for about 5,000 U.S. beaches, and it actually looks at the beach first.

    • Watches 400 live beach cams: grabs a frame from each stream with ffmpeg, then AI vision reads the crowds, sargassum, big waves and lifeguard flag.
    • A scoring engine blends those camera reads with weather and sea state into one call. A red flag or heavy sargassum caps the day at MAYBE, however sunny it is.
    • Reports come from a stale-while-revalidate Redis cache kept warm by a Lambda, so they open instantly.

  • TreatMe

    04wishlists · payments · live

    TreatMe

A public wishlist anyone can gift from. Post a wish, someone taps Treat, and it ships straight to you without either side sharing an address or card.

    • Paste an Amazon, Walmart or Target link and the title, price and photo fill in; the wish goes into a live feed where anyone can treat it.
    • Gifters never see the recipient's address and recipients never see payment details; TreatMe places the store order and tracks it from paid to delivered.
    • Stripe Checkout with Radar risk checks, trust levels and fraud holds, so chargebacks are caught before anything ships.

About me

I'm Candela, a software engineer in Deerfield Beach, Florida. I work across the whole stack: data models and APIs on the back end, React and React Native on the front, and the details in between that make an app feel finished.

Before building my own apps I spent four years at Masacre.io and a year and a half at Pentester, working on dashboards, billing systems on AWS and AI tools for health clinics. I studied Computer Engineering at Florida Atlantic University.

Outside of work I foster kittens and bake a lot of delicious sweets. On weekends you'll find me at the beach reading a book and soaking in the nature, or at home working on a personal project and learning something new.
